L'Eglise de St. Remy in Domremy

In each of the previous two photos, one can see a statue of Jeanne, raised up on a pedestal, to the left of the church entrance.  That statue is no longer found there, but an old photo (Debout, 1905) shows us what the statue looked like.  I am unaware of the current disposition of the statue.

Below is another old photo from Mgr Henri Debout's book showing the church and the principle street of Domremy circa 1905.  To the right of the church can be seen the building which today is the Hotel Jeanne d'Arc.  By clicking on the image, the full resolution  version shows more detail in the sign.  It appears that the sign on the building reads Hotel…  Perhaps, then, the building was the Hotel Jeanne d'Arc in 1905 as well.  The horse-drawn wagons visible in the photos also give something of the flavor of the town as it was a century ago.  The building across the street from the Hotel still stands, and is today a café.
